Milad Souri holds a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from Portland State University and is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the state of Oregon. He has experience in a broad range of geotechnical and earthquake engineering projects across the Pacific Northwest. His consulting expertise primarily focuses on seismic design and performance evaluations of lifeline components and systems, including surface and maritime transportation, airport facilities, and bridges. Milad's research focused on the seismic evaluation of foundations for waterfront structures, providing guidance for ports and waterfront engineers to better understand the seismic performance of structures and soil-structure interaction during significant seismic events. He has published the academic results of his research in multiple civil engineering journals and presented at several national conferences. Milad has a deep understanding of various geotechnical and soil-foundation-structure interaction applications that support performance-based design. His areas of specialization include probabilistic and deterministic seismic hazard evaluation, seismic ground motion characterization, nonlinear dynamic soil response modeling within finite difference framework, soil liquefaction and lateral spread assessment and mitigation, seismically induced ground deformation, dynamic soil-structure interaction, seismic foundation design, seismic slope stability, earthquake ground motion development for dynamic structural analyses, and performance-based seismic design for a wide array of civil infrastructure. Currently, he is actively engaged in a multidisciplinary team working to promote earthquake risk reduction in the Pacific Northwest by advancing the science and practice of geotechnical earthquake engineering.
