Dr. van der Molen is a port engineer with 17 years’ experience working in Europe, South Africa, North America (at Baird) and now associate principal at Baird Australia, responsible for the set-up and quality control of port operability and ship navigation projects. He has developed and applied numerical models for wave-ship interaction, passing ship effects and moored ship response and has been the technical lead in the development of several port operational systems, such as forecasting systems for underkeel clearance in shipping channels and moored ship motions in coastal terminals.
