Mr. Fenical has 29 years of professional experience specializing in coastal and maritime engineering. He holds an MS degree from Texas A&M University and is Board Certified in Coastal Engineering and Port Engineering. Mr. Fenical's expertise includes coastal processes analysis and numerical modeling, shoreline protection, aquatic habitat design, dredging, propeller wash and scour protection, vessel hydrodynamics, mooring analysis, ship maneuvering/berthing, and navigation hazards. Mr. Fenical’s coastal analysis experience includes the development, validation, and application of advanced numerical models to simulate hydrodynamics and sediment transport, water quality, and wind-wave generation and transformation. He also performs coastal numerical modeling for cable/pipeline burial and protection projects including 3D sediment transport impacts during cable trenching and HDD pit dredging. He prepares and reviews engineering plans and specifications for scour and shoreline protection, coastal structures including breakwaters, groins, revetments and beach nourishment, and dredging. Mr. Fenical’s maritime specialty analysis includes deep-draft vessel pressure fields, high-speed ferry wakes, propeller/jet wash, static/dynamic mooring analysis, floating structure motion/loading, passing ship hydrodynamic loading, and ship maneuvering and berthing. He analyses vessel traffic and prepares navigation hazard assessments including evaluation of ship grounding, sinking, and anchor drop/drag.
