Senior Coastal Engineer
Coast & Harbor Engineering
Fremont, California, United States
Dr. Sharma’s coastal analysis experience includes developing and validating new techniques and codes for simulation of coastal processes, and implementing state-of-the-art numerical models for tidal and river current circulation, wind-wave growth and transformation, and sediment transport and morphological changes under waves and currents. Dr. Sharma utilizes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools to simulate complex wave-structure interactions and to evaluate propulsion impacts to marine structures caused by propeller wash. His skills also extend to coastal numerical modeling for cable burial and protection projects including three-dimensional hydrodynamics and sediment transport during cable trenching and dredging operations.
Dr. Sharma’s maritime specialty analysis includes hydrodynamics and response analysis of floating structures, passing ship hydrodynamics and vessel loading analysis, and static/dynamic mooring analysis of vessels. He analyses vessel traffic and perfoms navigation hazard assessment.
