Rod is a marine structures engineer with over 34 years of engineering experience and formerly served as Chief Harbor Engineer and Director of Engineering for the Port of San Francisco. He has extensive expertise in development of waterfront sites, seismic analysis and retrofit design of piers and wharves, and inspection and rehabilitation of marine structures. He participates on the ASCE/COPRI standards committee for the Seismic Design of Piers and Wharves (ASCE 61) and serves on the ASCE Sustainability Technical Committee. He serves as chair of the Engineering Criteria Review Board (ECRB) for the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), which provides technical review and permits for San Francisco Bay shoreline development projects.
