Cheryl W. Coviello. P.E., D.PE is an Associate Principal with GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. and is a registered professional engineer with a M.S. in Civil Engineering and an ACOPNE Diplomate of Port Engineering. She has more than 25 years of experience over a broad range of waterfront and near-shore projects in the Northeast region of the U.S. including port terminals, municipal marinas and piers, commercial fishing facilities, federal government military installations, shipyards and private marine terminals. Ms. Coviello’s experience includes condition surveys and assessments; structural analyses and design of repairs, rehabilitation, expansions, and new piers; construction bid and administrative services; and environmental permits and license applications. She advances awareness of potential vulnerabilities and adaptation planning for marine infrastructure and coastal features through her involvement with various organizations and project development.
She is a member of ASCE and an active member of ASCE-COPRI Ports and Harbors Committee and the Design Standard for Piers and Wharves Committee. On a more local level, Ms. Coviello is a board member and past president of the International Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Portsmouth, a board member of the Portsmouth Submarine Memorial Association – U.S.S. Albacore Park and active with the Maine-New Hampshire Port Safety Forum. In addition, Ms. Coviello has served as an adjunct professor with the University of New Hampshire and shares her passion for structural waterfront engineering through outreach with elementary through high school students and college senior capstone projects.
