VP, Structures Director
Moffatt & Nichol
Costa Mesa, California, United States
Dr. Jaradat is an industry expert in seismic research, design, and construction of structural systems, with a focus on port structures. With over 25 years of project experience as a practicing engineer, he specializes in earthquake engineering, soil structure interaction, and non‐linear structural analysis, which is required for design and construction in high seismic regions of the world.
Dr. Jaradat has led the development and update of port‐wide seismic design criteria for the port complexes at Los Angeles and Long Beach, California. At Moffatt & Nichol, he is the technical director for the Long Beach office structural team and serves as the structural lead on projects with significant structural components, regularly providing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) oversight. Dr. Jaradat has published and co‐authored more than 20 papers in the field of earthquake engineering, marine structures, and the elastic behavior of concrete columns. Over his career, Dr. Jaradat has served on many technical committees tasked with the development of code standards for the analysis and design of earthquake resistant structures, and currently serves on several national and international committees with the American Society of Civil Engineers and Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute.
In addition, Dr. Jaradat has directed an experimental program at the University of California at San Diego to study the seismic behavior of concrete decks supported by vertical pile systems.
