Theresa Richards, P.E. is a structural engineering doctoral candidate at the UC San Diego. She received her bachelor’s in structural engineering from UC San Diego and her master’s in civil engineering from the UC Los Angeles. She has worked for 14 years as a professional engineer designing and inspecting waterfront structures along both the east and west coast. Her experience includes underwater and above water inspection, rehabilitation design, project management, conceptual and detail design of various marine structures. Her research interests include seismic design and behavior of steel and concrete structures in the marine environment. Her current focus is the performance of steel components, specifically pipe piles, subjected to seismic ground motions for near coastal marine structures.
