Gayle Johnson, P.E. is a Senior Principal with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) in Oakland California. Mr. Johnson received his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota and his Masters Degree in Structural Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Both of these occurred a long time ago. Mr. Johnson is particularly well known for his expertise in seismic engineering. He is the Chair of ASCE 61, the Standard for Seismic Design of Piers and Wharves, and has acted as author, chief editor, and cat-herder for the next edition, which will be published in 2025.
