Matt McCarty is a Principal in Stantec’s Port and Marine Terminal group, based in New York, where he helps government and private businesses, including ports, offshore wind developers, shipyards, NAVFAC, and NYC agencies plan and execute infrastructure development projects. His areas of expertise include waterfront structural engineering and design, inspection, construction administration, and project management. Matt earned his Bachelor and Master of Civil Engineering degrees from Johns Hopkins University. He was the recipient of the 2016 PIANC De Paepe-Willems 1st Place Award for his work on design of large diameter fiber reinforced polymer pilings in ferry terminal applications, and was the first American to win in over 25 years. In addition to his work with PIANC, Matt serves as the Past-President of ASCE’s Coasts, Oceans, Ports & Rivers Institute (COPRI) New York Metropolitan Chapter and on multiple ASCE/COPRI Committees including Codes and Standards, Dry Dock Standards, and Ports & Harbors.
